About Us

About HB Pantry Co! Kelly Hamblin & Trista Bosch started HB Pantry this year! Some dear friends of ours got us hooked on their freeze-dried snacks. We said what a great idea, how cool and fun is that… lets do it! We invested in the equipment and were off!

So, a little bit about freeze dried foods. It is different than canning or dehydrating... it’s a different process. It essentially freezes the foods to -40 degrees and pulls all the moisture out… the huge benefit of the freeze drying proces...s is that the foods retain most all of the nutritional content! Another huge benefit is with proper packaging and storage the foods last 15-25 years!

You are probably thinking what can you freeze dry? You can really freeze dry most anything… fruits, vegetables, meat, ice cream, cheese, casseroles, eggs, gummy bears, sauces, the list goes on and on. Foods that are really high in fat and some high sugar foods don’t do as well. Some foods can be eaten as-is, other foods you will reconstitute with water. We are offering custom freeze drying services where you can cook your meal, your way, in your kitchen, freeze it and bring it to us. We will load it into the freeze dryer, run it and package it and there you go! This is great for long camping or hunting trips, backpackers that don’t want to carry weight and a ton of other uses.. fast ingredients, quick dinners.. etc…

We are blessed to live in Northern, CA with an abundance of crops. We are trying to process locally grown fruits and vegetables that are in season! How nice would it be to have those sweet, bright red strawberries all year! Let’s face it.. come December we are wishing we had our summer fruit again! Don’t you wish you can have good mandarins in June?

Check out our pantry to see the items we have done so far!  We are still experimenting, learning and we are selling some of our products locally at events or by word of mouth! Yes, we did jump thru the hoops to be licensed, permitted, food safety certified… and so on!

Lastly, for our gardening friends.. if you plant one too many zucchini plants or peppers or green beans or melons or peaches....whatever it is and feel bad about your produce going bad because you can’t eat it all, can it all, dry it all... HB Pantry Co. will gladly take it!
